My two words for this assignment were mechanism and key. The first thought that popped into my head when I initially thought of the word key was the lock and key type of key, but that felt too basic so I decided to go with a map or translation key type of key. For mechanism, I used a definition straight from the dictionary: “a system of parts working together in a machine”.

It has now been two weeks since I came to Berlin, and I still don’t understand how to read the subway map. It’s a “key” to the subway “mechanism”, but to me it’s a puzzle I can’t seem to solve. Inspired by this, I made a puzzle. Pictured below is an 9×8 scrambled puzzle (picture) of the Berlin subway system.

Scrap to art. Recycling. Making from what you have. lots of lateral thinking. Chill working environment. Electronics. A combination of various skills and learning as you go to make whatever you want. Interactive Retro style.

Very interesting work. Harshini was relatable and charming. Projections. Progression from one medium to another. Mixing of media. Video Jockey?! Living in Berlin…..

My 2 random words were Save Guarantee. When I first saw this I thought of a discount voucher for shopping. That I used the lateral thinking technique of asking why? I questioned why this voucher should be for shopping. After thinking for a while I remembered that Professor Aaron said that he would allow us to be late for one class because he himself was late for the studio visit. So I decided to combine these ideas to make a late pass/voucher for the class.

Was not what I was expecting from the website but was also pleasantly surprised.

It is interesting that they repurpose already used/ thrown away items.

Pursue an idea but stay flexible on the way to achieve it.

Not letting finances limit your creativity or goals

She was charismatic and I liked that she was trying to be engaging with the class and ask us questions

She had an interesting capstone project

Her description of Berlin seems pretty accurate (even the bad stuff)
