Random Words

I was stuck when I noted down the two words generated for me: Sheep & Cruelty.

My mind first went to the obvious candidates for topics:

  1. Animal cruelty
  2. Sheep being mean.
  3. Animal Rights
  4. Ethics?

Eventually, through a process of generating alternatives we arrived here:

  1. Following something/someone like sheep.
  2. Cruelty -> Suffering -> A long winded discussion on suffering as a necessity for consciousness with a friend -> AI conciousness

My first thought was a clan of AI powered beings following a human like sheep. But we need things to be more exciting.

This led to a number of humans following an AI like sheep. They don’t believe the AI is malevolent, but that since it is super-intelligent, it must know what is best for them.

I threw in some sheep, cause why not. I drew a part of the image and superimposed it on a background created using stable diffusion.

You might find some references to previous totalitarian regimes in the drawing:

Make Assigment: Random Words

Words: Pumpkin / sculpture

First I wanted to do an actual sculpture, but I couldn’t find the right medium, so I decided to draw the sculptures.

You might wonder why I chose a shrimp, a cat and something that doesn’t have a clear shape (it is a knee). It might look like these objects have no direct relationship with pumpkin as a theme, and they don’t. But for me, these sculptures are describing something, actually, someone. I was really unsure of what to do, my first idea was to do something pumkin carving related, but I didn’t like the idea. I was exploring so many different ideas that I got overwhelmed. So I decided to start a completly new project with my first thought about pumpkin. You see, when the word pumpkin appeared on my screen, my first thought was my sister. This might not make sense at first glance, but I does for me. She loves pumpkin spice latte, and she lets EVERYONE know this about her, and I have been talking to her lately. I decided to draw the sculptures of things that remind me of her. These are things she likes, things I tease her about and something about her life. She loves sphynx cats, I joke about her sitting like a shrimp (I hope she doesn’t read this post) and she had an important knee surgery some years ago.

This is the cat I used as reference 🙂

Making Assignment – Sentence Monster

For my making, my random word generator gave me “sentence monster,” despite being a bit confusing; I decided to stick with it to gain from the assignment and improve my creativity.

I thought about these two words separately but then realized that I was thinking wrong for myself and that I should see what words come to my head when I think of these two words together.

Somehow I reached “The Cookie Monster,” and I decided to turn him into “The Sentence Monster,” the difference between these two monsters is that the sentence monster eats your sentences, at least tries to “eat” the last part of it. Hence, it interrupts you and makes you forget what you will say.

I am not sure of the purpose of a sentence monster, but maybe not everything has to have a purpose, so we will let the Sentence monster live his life and enjoy it.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I present you The Sentence Monster:

Our monster Ted eats words digests them, and learns so much through eating. He finds a letter, then checks if the length of the sentence is long; if it is, he will steal the word to eat. Then he stores the words and letters in his tummy, where he has the world’s most detailed dictionary that only stores new words and lets the monster digest the words already added. (Steps shown in the second photo)

Make Assignment- Random Word Generator

For this make assignment, I ended up with the words: prediction & publish. I immediately thought of creating a newspaper or magazine in which I could predict people’s lives tomorrow. The newspaper could have tomorrow’s news instead of yesterday’s. Additionally, when I thought of this, I also thought of creating a horoscope.

So, I created a newspaper that had horoscopes for the coming week in June (5th-11th).

Side note: I was initially going to do all 12 zodiac signs and incorporate them into my newspaper, but there were too many, so I picked my favorites :).
